BIO

I started studying music and playing classic guitar at the age of 6. Throughout my school years I studied classical, jazz and popular music. I was involved in numerous bands, orchestras, ensembles, and combos and toured the Caribbean as a performing musician. I performed with Chuck Mangione (recording artist), Billy Mitchell (renowned jazz tenor saxophonist), Bob Cunningham (Bassist for Freddie Hubbard) and Eddie Daniels (renowned jazz clarinetist).

During the mid 1970’s I earned a Bachelor of Science, in music education, from Hofstra University. My electronic music mentor was Herbert Deutsch, co-inventor of the first Moog Synthesizer. I studied piano and music theory with Morton Estrin, the noted American pianist. I had the opportunity to study with jazz guitar legend, Joe Pass. My experiences with Joe Pass inspired me to continue to pursue my lifelong interest in finger-style, multi-voiced guitar composing and arranging. Naturally, with my penchant for the guitar, electronic music, synthesis and computers, I transferred my knowledge and love for guitar composition and arranging to scoring for film, television, and multimedia.

Through the 80’s I continued performing in several music venues and secured a public school teaching position, teaching Guitar, Electronic Music and other courses. I provided numerous music educators with in-service training in music and computer applications. I earned a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in music, physics and writing during 1987.

During the 90’s I decided that film composing was where I could best utilize my full knowledge, combined experiences and love for films to their fullest. I started a corporation, Sound Music Productions Inc. I own and operate a state of the art ProTools Studio. I compose and produce music in a variety of genres using MIDI, digital audio and live musicians. My  interest in sound and sound design has led me to learn and implement the finest sound design tools in the field. These software tools include CSound, MAX! and Metasynth.

I’ve collaborated on numerous feature films, short films, documentaries, television shows and web projects with Valhalla Motion Pictures, Red Horse Native Productions, the Long Island Film and TV Foundation, the Nassau County Film Foundation, Garman Films, Aspire Films and Studio McKeon.  The Choctaw CodeTalkers is a recent nationally broadcast PBS documentary I provided music for and it was a production of Red Horse Native Productions and Valhalla Motion Pictures. Executive Producer Gale Ann Hurd, (AMC's The Walking Dead ex. producer), was the executive producer of that PBS documentary. I’ve composed and conducted music for PBS on a TV show titled, Lights on For Education. My music has been utilized as the award winning fanfare music at numerous awards ceremonies for the Long Island International Film Expo.
